Paige McGrath - 1968-2022

We’re deeply saddened to report that Paige passed away on Friday April 8th 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by close friends and family. Just before she passed, we were able to bring her home so she was able to see her beloved llamas for one last time.

For over 35 years, Paige and her family have been raising llamas at their farm just outside Charlottesville, Virginia, and they now have had seven generations born on the farm. Not only has Paige raised national champions, but her llamas have appeared in the Guinness Book of Records, and have become mini-celebrities on YouTube, television, and social media.

Between the llama shows that she both ran and attended, the llama treks, the camping, and the special events, Paige has touched the lives of thousands of people who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to interact with llamas. Visitors from all over the world have come to her farm to see the gentle giants that she has dedicated her life’s work to raising and caring for.

It was Paige’s wish that the farm should continue. In February 2022, Paige created the “Lower Sherwood Farm Trust”, intended to carry on her legacy for another seven generations of llamas and beyond. She wanted her lifetime’s work at the farm to continue, and we intend that her llamas and their descendents will be winning blue ribbons at shows and taking people hiking for decades to come.

All expressions of sympathy for Paige and her family, including flowers, and cards are welcome. Donations to the Lower Sherwood Farm Trust can be sent by PayPal to ‘donations@lowersherwood.com’, by making checks payable to the “Lower Sherwood Farm Trust” and mailed to the farm, or clicking one of the links below.
